Small things, mostly

A large object that makes familiar sounds

In Singapore, my sometimes lunchtime places are in the Korean food neighbourhood of Bukit Timah. There is a little mischievous kid who darts in and out of a Korean cafe I am at. I try to speak with her using my very limited Korean. Though amused (she must wonder what is this large dark object that makes familiar sounds), she hardly has patience to listen to a full sentence before she darts out to eat a bit of snack and add to the drawing she is working on.

Drawing Kid

A while later. I see the kid purposefully walking towards me. She gifts me the drawing. It depicts a tree that looks like a giant mushroom and some kids below it. Now, I am wondering what to draw for her.

Singapore’s Korean Town

I wouldn’t call this Korean town, but Bukit Timah neighbourhood in Singapore does have a higher concentration of Korean food compared to other parts of Singapore.

Another kid in another Korean town I remember fondly.
