Food from Burma in Bangkok (Thailand)

When I miss the world, I go to Bangkok. Bangkok has the widest range of budget international food in Asia. You can find Afghan, Ethiopian, Yemeni, Peruvian,Tibetan along with more mainstream Japanese, Korean, Sichuanese etc. Thanks to liberal visas, the sheer number of international connections, and somewhat neutral stance (Bangkok airport is the only place in SE Asia where you spot an Israeli and Iranian plane next to each other on the tarmac), you can meet people from almost anywhere.

Neighbouring Burma is also well represented and keeps growing. My current favourite is Kalyana (for live music and immaculately dressed staff) and a little hidden away alley off Phetchaburi 15 that has three Burmese places next to each other and  is a sort of meeting place of the community. Try the spicy Arakan soup and the various salads.
