Finding chicken rice in Hainan (China)

In school geography tests, we were made to draw maps of various countries. I remembered China as a hen, with Hainan as the egg. When I moved to South East Asia, I saw Hainanese chicken rice everywhere. I went to Haikou city in Hainan. I asked a local where I could find the famed Hainanese chicken rice. The local was perplexed and suggested I try the local KFC.  Seems there is no chicken rice (at least not the chicken rice we are accustomed to) in Hainan.
